Garden Soup

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarin
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup chopped celery
  • 4-5 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 head lettuce, finely shredded
  • 4 slices ham, diced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose cream
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour dispersed in
  • 1/4 cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan.
  2. Saute onions and celery until soft.
  3. Add the broth and bring to a rolling boil.
  4. Stir in lettuce, ham, cream, and dispersed flour.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Continue cooking over medium heat until it boils again.
