Churros Con Chocolate

Ingredients

    For The Fritters:

  • 1 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup oil for frying
  • additional flour for dusting
  • For hot chocolate:

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh milk

Instructions

  1. Put the flour in a large heatproof bowl. In a saucepan, combine water and salt. Allow to boil. When the water boils, remove it from heat and pour it over the flour. Stir until the dough is smooth and does not stick to the sides of the bowl.
  2. Transfer the dough into a large-tipped pastry bag. Pipe into 6-inch strips or U-shaped strips on a greased and floured baking tray.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan. Fry the dough strips utnil golden brown. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
  4. Combine cooca and sugar in a saucepan. Add the milk, the stir to partyly dissolve the sugar and cocoa. Allow to boil, then reduce heat. Let simmer and stir constantly for 5-10 minutes until the liquid is very thick.
  5. Put chocolate into a cup. Serve with the fritters as a dip. (Thinner chocolate may be served as a drink, if desired)
